Add your custom view to the menu

Are you using a custom generated view for People or Affiliates generated by URL? You'll likely want to add it to your menu!

If you create any custom Affiliate Organizations or People Affiliations, or if you are generating a custom view by modifying the URL you will want to add the path to your view (with the specified layout) to the menu.

For example, you might have added a new Affiliation taxonomy term to People, such as for "Advisors", and want to have a page that shows them in the Directory format. The URL to that page would look something like http://mysite.stanford.edu/people/advisors/directory , and you want to add that to your People menu. To do so, you would:

  1. Find the URL you'd like to add:

    URL

  2. From the Site Actions menu, click Edit Main Menu.
  3. Click +Add Link at the top of the Main Menu edit page.
  4. On theIn the Menu link title field, add the title you wish to be displayed in the menu, e.g. Advisors.
  5. Under the Path field, add the URL of the page you wish to add to the menu. The path structure for modifying People views is: people/{taxonomy term}/{view name}/[/grouped], where /grouped is an optional modifier that only works with specific layouts and only the default taxonomy terms (Faculty, Staff, and Student). Based on the People example above, you would enter in: people/advisor/directory.
  6. In the Parent Link drop down, select People. This ensures your link will show up under the People section of the menu.

    Add to menu

  7. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.
  8. Navigate to your new page, and check it out!

  9. To change the order of menu items, from the Site Actions menu, click Edit Main Menu.
  10.  On the Main Menu edit page,  click on the + to drag and drop the menu items.
  11. Scroll to the bottom of the Main Menu edit page and click Save configuration.

You can use the same process to add your custom Affiliate Organizations views and groupings to the menu.
