Insert Custom Google Map

Site owners have permission to embed a customized Google Map to the website. A customizable Google map is currently available out of the box for all Stanford Sites Jumpstart Academic sites.

You can use Google Maps to create a customized map and embed it on your webpage. This is done in two steps, first create the map and then embed the map in your site.

Creating a Google Map

  1. Log into your Google account.
  2. Navigate to Google Maps.
  3. Enter the location in the search bar and press enter/return on your keyboard.

Embedding a Google Map

  1. Click the share link from Google Maps.

  2. Select the Embed map tab.
  3. Select an embed size.
  4. Copy the HTML iframe code to paste in your website.
  5. Go the the webpage where you want to embed a Google Map.
  6. Click the Edit tab.
  7. Be sure the Text format is set to Full HTML. In the Body field paste the embed code.
  8. Click Save.
